Two short trails lead to very interesting rock formations that look like mushrooms as the name of the park implies. Thirty minutes is all that is required to see the park and take some photos. The nearest town is Marquette; not much there though it has a small grocery store. Mushroom Rock State Park is a few miles away and interesting. Kanopolis Lake is lovely and would provide water sports fun had it been accessible. We didn't get to Ellsworth or Kanopolis but saw a Kansas PBS program which showed some interesting things to see there.
